Details:

Adona Joann Belfon, 56, of St. Andrews, Grenada went to Glory on Thursday June 12, 2014. Adona, or Joann as she was called by everyone who knew her, was born in Post Royal St. Andrews, Grenada on June 24, 1957, to Edwin Davis and the late Marjorie Belfon. Joann was the second born of thirteen children. Though Joann had a zeal for education and a continuous interest in learning she was only able to complete a basic education in school. Joann; however, continued her education through Christ and became an avid reader and teacher of the Bible in her church and community. Joann was a hard working diligent woman who put God, her children and family first. She was able to raise seven successful and humble children by working various and, at times, multiple jobs. She often sacrificed and went without in order for her children to be comfortable and taken care of. She made sure to instill the highest level of values and lessons into her children. As a result of her sacrifice and love, she was able to contribute seven God fearing, respectful, loving and kind people to the world; her greatest life work. Later in her life she moved to New York from Grenada in order to live with one of her daughters. Though she was unfamiliar with so many aspects of life in New York, she flourished and began a new chapter of her life. She embraced change and approached every new challenge as an opportunity to learn, grow and demonstrate her non-wavering faith in God. She began to follow her life- long dream of becoming a pediatric nurse. A profession she admired because she loved children and helping people. She had recently enrolled in Nursing Program before her untimely passing. She was determined to follow her dreams after working so hard to support her children’s dreams. Joann’s legacy consists of her surviving children; Shirlean (Dellie), Alecia (Jemma), Pearline, Samuel, Ronel, Kerry and Kerin. As well as four grandchildren; Ariel, Seante, Nathaniel and Sameek. She is also survived by her siblings; Phillip (Hendis), Peter, Paul, Osbert (Poppy), Pamela (Pinky), Cindy, Merl, Stafford, Matthew, Silda, Phillip and Vilma (Linnette) Belfon. Joann also leaves her father, Edwin Davis. Joann led her life the way so many of us strive to; with humility, strength and flawless devotion to God, her family and loved ones. Though she has gone home to Glory, those of us who knew and loved her will mourn the time we missed with her and remember and cherish the time we had with her. We will also thank God for easing her suffering and bringing her back home to His kingdom. Joann went to Glory with the same peace and comfort that she lived her life with. Let us come together today to celebrate her life, legacy and faith. “ According to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is to gain. Phillipians1:20-21 Acknowledgments The Family would like to send their sincere thanks and appreciation to the earthly angels who loved and cared for Joann in her ultimate time of need: Beryl Cipriani, Rebekah Baptiste and the Baptiste Family, Vicklyn Guillaume and the Grant-Guillaume Family, Roy Guillaume and Erica Arthur, Agnes Baptiste, Glenroy and Phiona Guillaume, Elaine Baptiste, Miriam Francis and Annet Mitchell. To all the named and unnamed, the family says thank you and God bless you for your kindness and support.

As a family we mourn the passing of Joanne but as the scripture says 'to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. We urge the children and siblings to take courage from the word of God. .

To Joann's children and rest of the family. My love and prayers are with you always. It is and will always be a great honor meeting and caring for someone like Joann in this lifetime. She was such an expression of God's love, filled with humility and laughter. I will miss her a lot, for my time with her was short and ever so meaningful. But I know she is ok and is with the Lord that is her everything. Stay strong and know that Joann's love is always with you. God will see you through this sorrowful time.
