Catherine Graves, better known as Florette Celestine, was born on April 29, 1932 in Vincennes, St. David’s, Grenada. Ms. Graves was loved and adored by her family and friends. After living many years in Vincennes, Florette moved to Williamson Road, St. Georges where she had her 4 children: Alister, Glenna, Lenroy, and David. She cared and raised her children and after a couple of years, she migrated to Trinidad. There she spent several years and returned to Grenada to her family. Later on, she came to America to make a better life for her children and within a few years they were able to join her. Once united with her family, she worked hard to make sure that they were cared for. One cannot forget that Florette had an extremely extroverted personality. She would always talk about the glorious times of going to parties with her friends, which she referred to as “Sunday School.” She would also continuously declare her unconditional love for her children and family along with how much they meant to her. It must be noted that she was a feisty, strong-headed character. She loved to reminisce about the good old days living in Vincennes with her parents and siblings, especially the good food like a delicious piece of roasted breadfruit and a piece of pork. This was her favorite dish; it could only bring a smile to one’s face while listening to her stories. She enjoyed playing music and singing, and even though it was difficult for her to stand in the last months of her life, she would dance while sitting. She had a melodious voice. Amidst all this, what is most important today is that Ms. Graves made peace with the Lord. She was always praying for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her family. She was persistent in her advocacy for her children to go to church and pray to the Lord because he sees and know all things. Catherine leaves to mourn her children: Alister aka Wakie, Glenna, Lenroy aka Sutash and David also known as Tomahawk in the U.S., and her sister, Myra, in Grenada, her grandchildren: Cassandra, Sarana, Dwayne, Michelle, Mikey, Chinelle, Tyra, Rafael, Marlon, Daniel, and Joshua in the U.S. and Don in Grenada along with many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews in Grenada, Canada, Trinidad and the U.S. a daughter-in-law Susan and many other relatives and friend include the Guillaume family and Honore family.
