The passing of Carol caught me totally off-guard. And brought with it a certain amount of grief. Recently when we spoke there was no inkling that his departure from the wicket was imminent. Goodbye at that time might have been appropriate. How well I remember many years ago during an interschool cricket match, St.Lucia versus Grenada, how much he frustrated the Grenada bowlers, and to some extent the impatient spectators at Queen's Park during his painstaking innings of sheer drudgery. Strokes had certainly taken a hiatus. He guarded his wicket very much as a miser would have protected his bag of gold. At that time one should have envisioned that type of steadfastness bore the hallmark of someone on the road to success in whatever endeavours he pursued. Indeed a harbinger of much in the offing. When he returned from England and practised his profession, he again showed me his judicious acumen by selecting Green Street Sports Club as the football team for which he played. The sign of a good mind in a thinking man. As time went on, we shared someone,to him, a friend and colleague (A.C.T), to me a lifelong comrade. When time permitted we enjoyed quite a few marathon sessions. Carry on ole boy. The batting order in this game is jnexhaustible. And surely I do not have to tell you
