A Tribute to a Cherished Friend
With heavy hearts yet profound gratitude we remember and celebrate the life of a truly exceptional man, Harold “Moutly” Blackman—a dear friend whose presence enriched our lives in countless ways.
He possessed a rare and admirable gift for bringing joy wherever he went. Jovial by nature and generous in spirit, he had an effortless ability to make others laugh and feel at ease. His company was a comfort, his wit was refreshing, and his warmth created an atmosphere of genuine fellowship. In his presence, burdens seemed lighter and ordinary moments became memorable.
He was, without question, one of the finest storytellers many of us have ever known. He understood that stories are more than recollections; they are the vessels through which memories, wisdom, and
relationships endure. With remarkable eloquence and impeccable timing, he could captivate an audience, evoke laughter, and transport us to another time and place. Through his stories, he gave us the gift of connection and reminded us of the beauty found in life's simplest moments.
His culinary talents were equally extraordinary. He was among the best cooks one could ever encounter. The meals he prepared were never merely about food; they were expressions of hospitality, care, and generosity. Around his table, friendships deepened, conversations flourished, and countless memories were made. He understood, perhaps instinctively, that sharing a meal is one of life's most meaningful acts of fellowship.
He was also a man firmly rooted in his convictions. He was unapologetically set in his ways, and therein lay one of his most endearing qualities. He possessed a steadfastness that reflected authenticity and principle. He did not bend with every passing trend or opinion but remained true to himself and to the values he held dear. In an age that often celebrates conformity, his unwavering sense of identity was both refreshing and admirable.
Although we mourn his passing, we also recognize that some lives leave an imprint that time cannot erase. His laughter still echoes in our memories, his stories continue to be retold, and the love he demonstrated through friendship and hospitality remains alive in those who knew him. The Scriptures remind us that “the memory of the righteous is a blessing”, and indeed, his memory is a blessing to all who had the privilege of walking alongside him.
We give thanks to God for the gift of his life—for his friendship, his character, his laughter, and the
countless moments he shared so generously with others. Though his earthly journey has
concluded, the influence of a life so richly lived endures in the hearts of family and friends.
May we honor him by embracing the joy he embodied, by cherishing the relationships he valued, and by remembering that every day is a gift entrusted to us by God. And may we find comfort in the enduring hope that love, friendship, and the goodness we sow in this life are never truly lost.
Farewell, dear friend. You lived with authenticity, loved with generosity, and left this world immeasurably richer because you were here. May you rest in the eternal peace and gracious presence of Almighty God.
