In Loving Memory of Dunstan "Joey" Andall Dunstan Andall, affectionately known to family and friends as "Joey," passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 78. He was born on July 21, 1948, in Duquesne, St. Mark's, Grenada, to Winifred Friday and Sylvanus Andall and lived a life marked by love, dedication, music, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. From an early age, Joey demonstrated a love for learning and academic excellence. His hard work earned him a scholarship to the Grenada Boys' Secondary School (GBSS), an achievement that reflected his determination and promise. Following his education, he devoted himself to teaching and served as an educator at Gouyave Roman Catholic School, where he helped shape the lives of many young students. In 1972, Joey met the love of his life, Janette "Joanie" Holas. Their relationship blossomed into a lifelong partnership built on love and companionship. The couple married in 1978, and together they embarked on a new chapter when they migrated to New York in 1979. There, Joey established a successful career with the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), where he worked faithfully until his retirement. Joey had a deep passion for music that remained with him throughout his life. In his younger years, he was the lead guitarist of the popular Grenadian band, Magnificent Six, delighting audiences with his talent and love of performance. His talent earned him the nickname "Joey" after locally renowned Trinidadian guitarist Joey Lewis. Although the band eventually disbanded, music never left his heart. He continued to enjoy playing his guitar, listening to music, and dancing whenever the opportunity arose. Beyond music, Joey embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He loved traveling and cruising and treasured the memories he created along the way. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends. Whether sharing boyhood stories, laughter, music, or a meal, Joey had a gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome. Joey leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Janette "Joanie" Andall; his children, Amanda in the U.S., Hotenencia, and Trina of Grenada, and Will and Wendy of England; his grandchildren, Annelise, Adonna, Jermod, Cadina, Akib, Cardel, and Vettori; and his great-grandchildren, Dilonya, JaVonte, Tylon, Skyla, and Devon. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Dan Andall, Jude Andall, Peter Andall, Emma, Angela, and Anastasia. Joey's memory will be cherished by a wide circle of relatives and friends, including Teresa, Alison, Tami, and Chris Philip; Yvonne, Chris, and Jennifer Andall; Debra, Rawle, Rawlisha and Hazel, Dina, Esther and Mazic; the Friday, Andall, and Vesprey families; Lola and the Morin family; Vera and the Fletcher family; the Slinger and Deallie families; Franco; Kiki; Franklin, Locksley Tyson; Norma Belfon; Leatha; Lela, O'Neill; and in Grenada, Yvonne and Richard, Beverly, Martin, Rasta Swan, Lazarus, and Kenson, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, and former colleagues whose lives were blessed by knowing him. Those who knew Joey will remember his warm smile, kind heart, gentle spirit, and enduring sense of humor. He lived a life rich in friendship, love, and meaningful connections, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though Joey has departed from this earthly life, the music he played, the love he shared, and the memories he created will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who loved him. "Those we love do not go away; they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
Rest in peace, Uncle Joey. We're so grateful we had the chance to see you in New York earlier this July. Your sudden passing has left us heartbroken; God knows how deeply we loved and appreciated you. Our deepest condolences go to Aunty Joney, Amanda, Annie & the rest of the family. We will miss you dearly. Sleep peacefully, dear Uncle Joey. Gone but never forgotten.
