FORTY-FIVE POLICE OFFICERS RECEIVE PROMOTION

CATEGORY:Special Report ---------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA TUESDAY July 31,2007 by Wallace J.A GRENADA: Forty-five police officers of the Royal Grenada Police Force have received instruments of appointment from Commissioner Winston James in a short ceremony at Fort George, St. George’s (police headquarters). Eight officers were promoted to the rank of Acting Superintendent of Police: Godfrey Edwards, Michael François, Anthony De Gale, Rodriquez James, Reuben Maitland, Jesmon Prince, Frank Philbert and Trevor Modeste. Twelve officers moved up to the rank of Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police:Cosmos Douglas, Claudius Coutain-David, Anthony Jones, Leroy Langaigne, John Mitchell, Glen Paul, Cleveland Clement, Damion Lee, Tafawa Pierre, Pamela Millar, Esau Pierre and Gregory Mathurine. Twenty-five officers received promotion to the rank of Acting Inspector of Police: Godwin Hosten, Randy Connaught, Raymond Matthew, Simon Dickson, Alston Alexander, Paul Christopher, Bernard Nelson, Linford Kingston, Richard Langdon, Lynda Francis, Anslem Joseph, Senneth M. Joseph, Peter Mason, Eric Peters, Terrence Julien, Harold Frame, Elsa Mason, Dennis Henry, Brian Worme, Marilyn Ferguson, John Amede, Kenneth Gill, Clevroy Antoine, Dexter Richards,Christopher Andrew. Although the appointments were made by the Public Service Commission (an independent body) some members of the RGPF who did not receive promotion are believed to be very disappointed and might even be contemplating some sort of court action. According to Commissioner James, however, there are limited positions for promotion within the Force at any given time and everyone can not be promoted at once.
