ANOTHER VERY SUCCESSFUL INTER SECONDARY SCHOOLS CROSS C...  
Over one hundred and forty six (146) athletes took the road last Saturday 11th October, 2008 at La Sagesse in St. David’s to signal the start of the Second Cross Country Run organized by the Ministry of sports. The event has generated much interest among the Secondary Schools as there was an increase in participation from the previous Run. Seventy six (76) girls and Seventy (70) boys provided lots of excitement throughout the entire route. The Boys started at the La Sagesse playing Field and proceeded towards the direction of the beach, then passed through Point Marquis Project onto the main road down to Corinth, to the Marina, back to Corinth finishing right where they started. The girls’ route was a bit shorter than the boys. They started up at the Playing Field, through to Corinth, to the Marina, back through Corinth finishing at the La Sagesse Playing Field. In the end, the St. David’s Catholic Secondary proved unbeatable in both Divisions. A superb performance from Nerina Aberdeen, a new emerging sensation. She covered the distance in a winning time of twenty six minutes, fifty two seconds (26.52 Secs.). The second spot went to Lisha Williams from the Wesley College in a time of twenty seven minutes ten seconds (27.10 Secs.) and placing third was Genelle Ross from St. Rose Modern Secondary, she clocked twenty seven minutes, twenty seconds (27.20 Secs.) Defending Champion in the boys’ category, Sherwin Paul led from the start to the finish giving his home supporters much to cheer about as he clocked an impressive time, twenty seven minutes, forty three seconds (27.43). Finishing second was Dariel Duncan from neighboring Westerhall Secondary, twenty nine minutes six seconds (29.60 Secs.) and third was Bernard Joseph from the Grenada Boys Secondary, twenty nine minutes forty five seconds (29.45 Secs.). It was another consecutive team victory for the St. David’s Catholic in both divisions. Position Boys Division Girls Division 1 SDCSS SDCSS 2 GBSS SJCSA 3 WHSS GSS The next Run will be over in St. Andrew’s at the SAASS Grounds next Saturday 18th October from 3 p.m. In other related news, Kenisha Pascall and Reon Radix gave good account of themselves and the country at the OECS Half Maraton held in St. Lucia on Sunday morning. Pascal, a former athlete from the St. David’s Catholic Secondary placed second (2nd) ahead of a large field of Caribbean athletes while Reon Radix, a former GBSS student now attached to the TAMCC placed seventh (7th) in the event. Coach Cyril Cox was quite satisfied with the performance of the two athletes. They are expected back home on Sunday evening and will soon begin preparation for the Grenadian General Insurance Half Maraton in four (4) weeks time.
