ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada -- Torrential rains thwarted play between the West Indies and England on Wednesday with the fourth one-day cricket international being abandoned without a ball being bowled. Match officials Darrell Hair of Australia and Eddie Nicholls of Guyana made the decision early in the morning after pelting rains flooded an already-waterlogged Queen's Park outfield. It was the third match of the seven-match series that has been blighted by the rain. In Saturday's double-header in Trinidad, there were only 16 overs of play. Sunday's match was dumped without any action. Even the opening game of the rubber -- ten days ago in Guyana -- was a rain-reduced 30-overs-per-side, which England won by two wickets. In England's previous series in Sri Lanka last year, two of the three matches were totally abandoned because of heavy rains as England lost 0-1. The outlook for the remaining three contests is also bleak. St. Lucia, where the next two matches are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, is currently being lashed with rain.
