HAVANA: Grenada, the first U.S. opponent on the road to the 2006 World Cup, rallied from two goals down to tie Cuba, 2-2, Thursday night in Havana.
Jason Roberts, who stars for English First Division club Wigan, led the comeback with a goal and an assist on Nigel Bishop's tying goal in the second half. Cuba had taken a 2-0 lead after 23 minutes.
Roberts was one of four English-based players to line up for Coach Alister Debellotte, who was reinstated last Saturday a day after he was advised his contract, which expired in April, would not be renewed.
Cuba hosts Grenada Saturday.
Grenada meets the United States June 13 in Columbus, Ohio, and a week later in St. George's in the two-game CONCACAF qualifying series.
CUBA-GRENADA GOALSCORERS:
Cuba 2 (Galindo 15, Faife 23) Grenada 2 (Roberts 47, Bishop 75).
