GRENADA SCORES GOLD AT THE CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
Grenada has scored another gold at the Chelsea Flower Show currently taking place in London (May 24 – 28). The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is this year celebrating its Bicentenary with a gardening theme. In view of this historic milestone, the Grenada Team has aptly chosen to portray the Bay Gardens as Grenada’s 2004 exhibit. The exhibit is rich in colour and encapsulates the abundance of tropical plants which adorn gardens in Grenada. The Grenada team of Suzanne Gaywood, Denis Noel, Albert St Bernard, Cathy John and John Criswick has been hard at work for the past few months leading up to the show. At the end of the day, and with a Gold Medal on display, the Spice Isle stands to benefit from vast media exposure, as well as the thousands of visitors and gardening enthusiasts who throng this very important event. High Commissioner for Grenada Ruth Rouse, joined Gary Rhodes and Grenadian actor Jeff Francis on day 1 of the show to lend support to the team and to promote Grenada’s worth to the visiting media. This achievement could not have been possible without the kind support of the following sponsors: The Grenada Board of Tourism, Lanwades Stud, JHB International Trade and Finance SA, Horseshoe Nurseries, Baroness Howells of St. David’s, Coyaba Beach Resort, Mr & Mrs. Stacey Scott, Mr & Mrs Buckenham, Embassy of the Republic of China on Taiwan and the Horticultural Society of Grenada. Special thanks also to the growers in Grenada who supplied the plant material. CONGRATULATIONS ON ANOTHER GOLD! {Grenada has won gold in 2001, 2002, 2003} High Commission for Grenada London May 25, 2004
