ELEPHANT MAN, SPRAGGA BENZ GET SOURCE AWARDS
ELEPHANT MAN and Spragga Benz now have one more trophy each to add to their collection. The two deejays walked away with victories from the Source awards, held on the weekend in the United States of America. Spragga took his award for 'best acting in a movie by a rapper', for his role in the film Shottas, while Elephant Man took the honours for the 'Dancehall/reggae artist of the year' category. In winning the award, Spragga edged out some of America's leading rappers for the victory. His fellow nominees were DMX in Never Die Alone, LL Cool J in S.W.A.T., Eve in Barbershop 2, and Ice Cube in Barbershop 2. Elephant Man on the other hand edged out his fellow deejay colleagues Sizzla, Vybz Kartel, T.O.K., and Beenie Man. Meanwhile, Beenie Man and Miss Thing who were nominated in the category 'Best Female Rap Collaboration' were edged out by Fat Joe and the Terror Squad for their hit Lean Back. Other big winners at the show were Kayne West and Lil John, who won three awards each. The awards ceremony was held at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, and will be broadcasted on BET on November 30. The Source Awards was created by the Source Magazine in 1991. During its first televised show on BET last year, the network reportedly received a record 2.7 million viewers for the season, and the seventh most watched show in BET's 23-year history.
