ST. GEORGES, Grenada, Weds. Oct. 13: Grenada’s Prime Minister Keith Mitchell has given prisoners who escaped during hurricane Ivan, a week to return to prison.
Mitchell, in an address to the nation late Monday night said, “All prisoners who escaped custody from the prison during the passage of the hurricane will not be prosecuted for escaping custody, once they turn themselves over to the police within seven days commencing 11th October to the 18th October 2004.”
He also announced an EC$5,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to the recapture of certain named escaped prisoners, whom the police regard as being most dangerous.
Many of the prisoners at the Richmond Hill facility escaped during the hurricane, more than a month ago.
