GRENADA POLICE HALTING AMNESTY ON NUMBER PLATES  
ST. GEORGES, Grenada, Weds. Nov. 3: The Royal Grenada Police Force is cracking down on vehicles owners who are refusing to repair their number plates. According to Michael Francois, head of the Traffic Department at Central Police Station on the Carenage ASP, a number of vehicles were damages following the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September but the department was being lenient because owners complaint that parts were hard to source. “It’s now two months since the hurricane and some vehicle owners are still driving around with vehicles that not fit for the road according the traffic regulations,” Francois said. He told Hardbeatnews that in order to remedy the situation, as of November 8, anyone found operating a vehicle without a number plate properly affixed to the front and the rear will be slapped with a charged. A vehicle owner found guilty of operating a vehicle without the proper number plate can be fined or imprisoned. Not only number plates were damaged, but windscreens, side mirrors, side glasses and other body parts. Francois said that a subsequent announcement would be made advising of the deadline to have these parts repaired or replaced to ensure safe usage. SOURCE: HARDBEATNEWS.COM
