PHILLY COMPANIES JOIN YOUTH IN RAISING FUNDS FOR GRENAD...
PHILADELPHIA, PA, Fri. Nov. 5: Two top black-owned Philadelphia companies joined more than a 100 youth there recently, in helping to pitch in additional monetary relief to hurricane victims in Grenada. MDL Capital Management and the Lomax Companies were the key sponsors of the 5K walk-a-thon, organized by the not-for-profit group, To Our Children’s Future With Health. The October 29th event raised $5,000, according to Steven L. Sanders, president, co-CEO and senior investment strategist of MDL. He told HBN, the inspiration for helping the people of Grenada following Hurricane Ivan, came because he had visited the island and met the prime minister only in the summer. The hurricane decimated the Spice Isle in September. The funds, according to Sanders, will now go to the government fund in Grenada, to help the rebuilding effort. Established in 1992, To Our Children’s Future With Health, Inc., provides comprehensive community health services which prepare more than 1,500 children and their families each year to live successfully and produce positive actions and changes in themselves and their environment, according to a prepared statement. MDL is the fourth-largest minority-owned asset management firm in the country, managing more than $3.5 billion in fixed assets from the U.S. to Bermuda and the U.S.V.I. The Lomax Companies is a management company concentrating exclusively on health care and owned and founded by Walter P. Lomax. SOURCE: HARDBEATNEWS.COM
