TORONTO'S EMERGENCY SERVICES RALLY TO SUPPORT HURRICANE...
TORONTO, Nov. 8 /CNW/ - Toronto EMS paramedics working with the David McAntony Gibson Foundation are teaming up with Toronto Police Service and Fire Services personnel to help victims of Hurricane Ivan. Paramedics, fire fighters, and police officers are volunteering their time to help load over 50,000 pounds of aid to be sent to Grenada. To date, DMGF has shipped over 75,000 pounds of medical aid, food and water to the Caribbean. In addition, DMGF deployed a disaster response team comprised of paramedics and other health care workers to Grenada in September. The container loading event is also intended to raise awareness of the upcoming charity concert, "Canadiana For The Caribbean" which will feature Rik Emmett, the Good Brothers, Barney Bentall, emcee Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins and other Canadian artists. The concert will be held on Wednesday, November 17 at Kool Haus, 132 Queen's Quay East, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster. Concert proceeds will go to help Hurricane victims in the islands. Date: Tuesday, November 9, 2004 Time: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Place: Toronto Emergency Services Headquarters 4330 Dufferin Street. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet the frontline men and women who serve our community while they volunteer time to help those in need overseas. Video and photo opportunities will be available for media outlets. The Canadiana for the Caribbean concert is being organized by Toronto Maple Reefers Parrothead Club and Volcano North Entertainment in conjunction with DMGF, Toronto Councillors Michael Thompson and Bas Balkissoon, and Mayor David Miller.
