Preparations are under way for the Donors Conference, which will be held at the Grenada Trade Centre on Friday 19th November 2004. The Grenada Conference is a follow-up to the October 4th Washington Conference, which was called on behalf of Grenada to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Country, following the passage of Hurricane Ivan on September 7. At that meeting, donors pledged financial and technical support to Grenada and agreed to meet here within six (6) weeks to provide an update on their pledges. The theme of the conference is “Rebuilding Grenada – A Time for Economic and Social Action.” Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell will deliver the Government of Grenada’s perspective on the way forward for the economic and social development of Grenada. The delegates will also be addressed by the Chairman of the Agency for Reconstruction and Development, Sir Alistair McIntyre. National Emergency Relief Organization (NERO) Coordinator Sylvan McIntyre is also expected to present a report on the Relief effort. The one-day Donor Conference begins at 8:30 a.m..
