COMMONWEALTH SECRETARIAT PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO GRENADA...  
As part of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s pledge to Grenada’s reconstruction efforts after the passage of Hurricane Ivan, Grenada will benefit from the services of Dr. Trevor Holmes, an architect contracted by the Commonwealth Secretariat. The focus of Dr. Holmes’ assignment is to advise the Government of Grenada on the most appropriate steps to be undertaken in the rehabilitation of public, civic, historical and tourism buildings affected by Hurricane Ivan. Dr. Holmes commenced his assignment on November 12th, 2004 and is expected to be in Grenada until December 3rd, 2004. While in Grenada Dr. Holmes is expected to work closely with representatives from the Ministry of Works, the Forestry and National Parks Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Physical Planning Unit of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Tourism, The Grenada Board of Tourism, and other interest groups. At the completion of his assignment, Dr. Holmes would provide a report which would: Provide an assessment of the damages sustained by public, civic, historical and tourism buildings; Recommend a plan of action, in collaboration with the Ministries involved in the process, for the rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of the buildings; Provide an assessment for further technical assistance necessary to give effect to the Plan of Action, taking due account of existing Reconstruction and Development Proposals.
