VIRGIN ATLANTIC TO RESUME SERVICE TO GRENADA
In a move that will normalize airlift between Grenada and the United Kingdom, Virgin Atlantic announced it will be resuming its weekly flight to island beginning December 13. Head of Marketing at the Grenada Board of Tourism Naline Joseph, upon learning to the news that airline will be touching down at Point Salines International Airport, pointed that the move is an indication that the airline is expressing a level of confident in the destination. “This is great news from us and for the tourism industry, things are looking better for the future,” she said. Following the passage of Hurricane Ivan on September 7, the airline decided to suspend flights to the island, but promised to resume in early December. The United Kingdom travel market is Grenada’s number one in terms of value and it is the third in terms volume. The average UK visitor spends 12 days on the island. British Airways and Excel Airways also provide a weekly service to the island from London. Meanwhile, the tourist board is preparing to start its Annual Airport Meet and Greet Program.
