Minister of Social Development Yolande Bain Joseph received a cheque for $9,000 (US) from Dr. Edwin Carrington, Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on Thursday, December 16. In presenting the cheque, Dr. Carrington said the funds were donated by the CARICOM Secretariat staff and are directed towards Grenadian children. The presentation was made in the Cabinet Room, in the presence of staff members of the Ministry of Social Development, who expressed appreciation for this gesture by the CARICOM Secretariat staff. Minister Bain Joseph, in expressing appreciation on behalf of the Government and people of Grenada, said the funds will be bring smiles to the faces of the children in institutions.
