CULTURAL EXPERIENCE MEETS ARRIVING PASSENGERS IN GRENAD...
In a move to showcase the destination’s hospitality, arriving passengers at Point Salines International Airport are receiving a taste of Grenadian culture before getting the approval stamp from Immigration and Customer Officers. Part of the annual Meet and Greet pre-Christmas program of the Grenada Board of Tourism (GBT), this year’s effort was met by many challenges, brought upon by Hurricane Ivan. GBT public relations officer Edwin Frank said that a conscious decision was made to continue the program for the 2004 Christmas season as the board continues the task of rebuilding Grenada’s vital tourism industry in the aftermath of Hurricane. This hospitality gesture, which will run from December 21 to 23, will include the customary distribution of local drinks along with musical entertainment from a local group that performs extempore singing. Although the primary intention is to cater to bigger flights, every effort will be made to also extend the gesture to the passengers of the smaller flights that arrive during the time when the major flights are being serviced, said Frank. The Grenada Board of Tourism undertakes to implement this important hospitality gesture on an annual basis to introduce the spirit of Christmas to visitors. This opportunity is being utilized by the tourism board to extend Christmas greetings to all tourism stakeholders, service providers, visitors, and the public. The GBT said it is looking forward to continued collaboration within the New Year for sustainable recovery and growth in all aspects of Grenada tourism. Reprinted from travelvideo.tv
