SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: The Caribbean Hotel Foundation (CHF) of the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) is making a call to Caribbean hospitality employees, professors, and students to apply for its 2005 Scholarship Program. Application forms are available on the CHF website, at www.caribbeanhotelfoundation.org and from the national hotel association in each respective Caribbean country. The application process opens January 1st, 2005; the deadline to apply is March 15, 2005. “The Caribbean hospitality industry is proud to contribute to the professional development of Caribbean nationals. The scholarship program provides aspiring and deserving young professionals with the opportunity to improve and further their knowledge and skills,” said Gill Titcombe, Coordinator of the Caribbean Hotel Foundation. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000, with the addition of a special Virgin Holidays Scholarship of $10,000; a new initiative by Interval International will create further scholarships in the future. All applicants will be considered for the corporate scholarships, which will be awarded to the best applicants fitting the required criteria. The Foundation provides the following types of awards to worthy applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to the industry and the potential for future success: Academic Scholarships for full time or part time study; Professional Development Scholarships and Co-Funded Summer Programs for industry employees and hotel industry trainers. Scholarships for journalists who are interested in increasing their understanding and knowledge of tourism in the region through a short course or seminar. Individuals may only apply for one type of award per year. Multiple applications will not be considered.
