PM MITCHELL VISITS AUDIT DEPARTMENT
The physical plant of the Audit Department will receive urgent attention in the New Year. This was the major focus at a meeting this morning when Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell met with Audit Department staff, as part of his ongoing meetings with all Public Officers. The building at Mt. Wheldale, where the Audit Department in located, was severely battered by Hurricane Ivan. However, Officers have braved the conditions and carried on their duties with a great measure of improvisation. The roof was destroyed and is currently covered with tarpaulins, while walls were also broken. Prime Minister Mitchell empathized with the Officers for having endured the post Hurricane Ivan conditions and applauded them for their dedication to duty in the interest of their Country. The Prime Minister further indicated that their commitment to the job puts into perspective high quality leadership, teamwork and a manner of exercising discipline in sticking to the task, which calls for independence and professionalism. The Prime Minister gave the assurance that mechanisms will be put in place to ensure repairs to the building commence early in the New Year. The management and staff of the Audit Department thanked the Prime Minister for responding promptly to their request to visit their location and wished him and his family a Happy New Year.
