MINISTER LOUISON SUPPORTS ACTION TAKEN OVER COARD LECTU...
ST GEORGE'S - Grenada’s Minister of National Security Senator Einstein Louison, has expressed grave concern about a letter from the Acting Commissioner of Prisons Wesley Beggs addressed to Pastor Stanford Simon and copied to the Minister and the Conference of Churches. Minister Louison says that the letter highlights a very serious a breach of prison security which occurred on October 25, 2005. In the letter, Acting Commissioner Beggs has asked Pastor Stanford Simon for a public apology over the taping and then broadcasting of a CSME lecture given by prison inmate Bernard Coard to other prison inmates. The Acting Commissioner has told Pastor Simon that no permission was given for the taping and broadcasting of this lecture therefore Prison regulations were broken. The Minister of National Security has given his full support to the action taken by the Acting Commissioner. Minister Louison says that the country’s laws and its national security must be kept in tact and that breaches like this could not be tolerated. He also pointed out that the confidence and trust which exists between the Prison Commission and Pastor Stanford Simon has been undermined. Source: Office of the Prime Minister
