SPICE MAS 2006 IS ON WITH A BANG IN GRENADA
ST GEORGE'S, Grenada: Spice Mas 2006 is off to a good start in Grenada and the Children’s Carnival Frolic on Saturday is living proof of what can be expected this year. The junior bands paraded through the Carenage unto the Tanteen Recreation Ground “Carnival City”. According to the Grenada Carnival Committee it is a pleasure to bring the festival back to the Tanteen Recreation Ground after nine years. In recent years some of the activities would have been staged at various venues in St George’s and Grenville. On Saturday, many Grenadians saw a transformed recreation facility. The crowd came out in their numbers to support the young masqueraders and calypsonians as they officially opened the carnival season. Parading through the streets the young ones were all in a julilant mood as they moved to the sounds of their favourite hits for the season. Over eight bands paraded on the streets, displaying colours that captured the eyes of many. As the masqueraders graced the stage one could feel the presence of carnival.
