HOPKINS TAKES HIS CAMPAIGN TO CITY HALL
One of the leading candidates for Brooklyn's 40th District formally takes his campaign to the steps of City Hall Wednesday. Gerry Hopkins, who last month was one of the first persons off the block in the race to fill the vacant City Council seat, will be having a 'city declaration' of his campaign at the steps of City Hall, Manhattan at 12 noon December 20, 2006. Hopkins has already picked up some high profile endorsements, including that of current City Councilman Charles Barron, and has been named by some local Brooklyn newspapers as one of the front-runners in a crowded field. Hopkins is also the only candidate so far who has articulated a detail platform, and is pushing for the establishment of an African, Caribbean Cultural Center in his district, as well as the establishment of more beacon schools and job training centers. The full details of his platform can be found on his website at www.votegerryhopkins.com
