The Windward Islands made a winning start to the season as they defeated defending champions Guyana by six wickets at the Tanteen Recreation Ground in St. Georges Grenada. A century of 101 from Royston Crandon inspired Guyana to 254/7. Narsingh Deonarine and Travis Dowlin made useful contributions of 55 and 41 respectively against Kenroy Peters 3-56. The Windwards then reached a winning score of 256/4 as Liam Sebastien hit 72 not out, Rawle Lewis 54 not out, Darren Sammy 48 and Dwayne Smith 49. Meanwhile, an unbeaten knock of 84 by Captain Darren Ganga helped Trinidad and Tobago defeat Barbados by seven wickets at the Carlton Sports Club. Denesh Ramdin 84 and Kieron Pollard 46 not out helped Trinidad to 251/3 in reply to Barbados 247/4.
