LLOYD TO MANAGE WINDIES IN INDIA
Cricket great Clive Lloyd will manage West Indies on their tour of India this month. Lloyd, chairman of the West Indies board's cricket committee, travelled as an adviser with the West Indies squad in India in October when it reached the final of the Champions Trophy. A former coach and manager of West Indies from 1997-99, Lloyd will take over from Tony Howard, who has been appointed the board's acting chief cricket operations officer. Howard has been manager since April 2004. The 61-year-old Lloyd led West Indies as captain from 1974 to 1985, when the team dominated world cricket. WICB cricket operations officer Derrick Nicholas also announced Barbados coach Hendy Springer will join West Indies as a temporary assistant coach to Bennett King. King's regular deputy David Moore was unavailable for the four one-day internationals against India, starting on Sunday in Nagpur. The team leaves from Antigua today.
