PRIME MINISTERS MITCHELL AND COMPTON DISCUSS REGIONAL I...
Grenada's Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell made an official visit to St Lucia on Wednesday, where he met with St Lucian Prime Minister Sir John Compton. Mitchell and Compton discussed several regional and international issues important to Grenada, St Lucia and the OECS. The two leaders spent just over two hours on Wednesday speaking about World Cup Cricket; the functioning of the OECS Supreme Court; the OECS Economic Union; the CSME and its impact on the OECS; International relations; and the European Union and its role in the diversification of regional economies. Compton and Mitchell also agreed on the need for a Code of Ethics among regional Prime Ministers to regulate the involvement of leaders in elections of other Caribbean states. During the meeting, Mitchell thanked the Government and people of St. Lucia for their support of Grenada’s reconstruction efforts and gave Prime Minister Compton an update on the progress of reconstruction. Mitchell also paid a courtesy call on Opposition Leader Dr Kenny Anthony where he conveyed best wishes to him in his new role. Reprinted from Caribbean Net News caribbeannetnews.com
