CATEGORY:ECONOMY/MONEY --------------------------- Inside Grenada Saturday January 20,2007 THE GRENADA CUSTOMS & Excise Division of the Ministry of Finance announces the re-installation of the Automated SYstem for CUstoms DAta (ASYCUDA). Grenada Customs will begin "Live" Entry Processing operations on Monday 5th February 2007. The only new procedure to be followed is the use of the importer/exporter TAX IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (TIN) in the completion of all submitted import and export entries. Non-commercial importers/exporters will continue to be treated as occasional traders and will be assigned the standard TIN 000000 in the absence of a TIN from the IRD. The re-introduction of ASYCUDA at Grenada Customs will result in increased transparency in the assessment of duties and taxes and will ultimately reduce Customs clearance times, all leading to direct and indirect savings for both government and traders alike.
