CATEGORY:BREAKING NEWS --------------------------- By Team Grenada Thursday January 25,2007 ST.JAMES, St.Andrew - According to reports reaching Grenadian Connection (GC), a 37 year old man from St. James, who resided at La Fillette with his wife and children, was burnt to death in a fire which gutted a home in the St. James area early this morning. According to information obtained from villagers, this tragic incident occurred around 7 a.m. this morning. The victim is believed to be a young man called Dexter Andrews. Reports are that he was seen in the St. James area early this morning and about thirty minutes later, a vacant family house was seen on fire. The firemen from the Grenville Police Station arrived on the scene shortly afterwards to try and extinguish the fire, not knowing that anyone was in the house at the time. It was only when the blaze was brought under control that a charred body, believed to be that of Dexter Andrews was found. Members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were then called in and it is believed that family members were notified about the tragic news. The body was then carried away to be identified. There were scores of villagers present at the scene and based on the conversations that were taking place, many of them were of the view that the incident was one of suicide by burning, however, no official announcement has yet been made by the police as it relates to the cause of the fire or the circumstances surrounding the death of the young man.
