GEORGE, Grenada – The La Source Grenada Sailing Festival, which is into its thirteenth year, is scheduled to commence this weekend in the parish of St. George. This afternoon, skippers from all over the island as well as from the regional and international community - who are expected to participate in the sailing festival - will converge at the Grand Anse Beach for a welcome party. They will also be briefed on all matters pertaining to the tournament. There will also be a fashion show along with other forms of entertainment like ‘fire-eating’, ‘limbo dancing’, ‘salsa’ and live steel pan music. One of Grenada’s favorite DJ’s, Blackstorm, will also be there providing music. From Saturday through to Tuesday, there will be a number of races, many of them sponsored by local business entities. There will also be a wide range of cultural activities during this period. The curtains will come down on the festival on Tuesday night after a final farewell celebrations party involving some of Grenada’s premier artistes at the True Blue Bay Resort. The Grenada Sailing Festival has been taking place yearly since January 1994 and has matured over the years to become one of the foremost National events of the Spice Isle and one that is recognized and appreciated all over the Caribbean and the international sailing community. The sailing festival this year will be held under the theme “Pure Sail Pure Spice.”
