GRENADA PM RECEIVES FIRST CARICOM PASSPORT
: Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell received the first CARICOM passport which was official launched here on Tuesday making Grenada the sixth CARICOM country to issue the new passport. Mitchell said the implementation of the passport is significant. “Having a common passport further advances the concept of unity and corporation in the region”. The old passport, which many Grenadians have in their possession, is still valid until the expiration date. It was noted that the application process for the new passport may not be the same since the process will be subject to greater scrutiny. The new CARICOM passport will identify the bearer as a citizen of the Caribbean Community. The passport comes with more security features than the previous one and will be valid for ten years.
