CATEGORY:SPORTS -------------------- By Wallace J.A Inside Grenada correspondent Sunday February 04,2007 GRENADA: One of Grenada’s outstanding national athletes, twenty-six-year-old triple jumper, Randy Lewis, recently finished second in the Men’s triple jump competition at the 2007 Russian Winter Competition – an IAAF indoor meeting that was staged in Moscow, Russia last week Sunday (January 28, 2007). Lewis, who is the current Grenadian holder of the triple jump record, jumped an impressive 17.04m, his personal indoor best, to come in second in the triple jump event behind Aleksandr Sergeyev of Russia, who jumped 17.12m. In March of last year, Lewis placed sixth in the 18th Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia and at the 2006 IAAF World Athletics Final in Stuttgart Germany last September, he placed seventh. Randy Lewis, like world’s 400m champion sprinter Alleyne Francique, is a past student of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS), a school which has produced many athletes of outstanding caliber over the years. Grenadian Connection wishes Randy Lewis all the best in his athletic engagements throughout this year and the years beyond and urges him to continue to make himself and Grenada proud.
