REPUBLIC BANK MAKING A DIFFERENCE  
CATEGORY:DONATION ---------------------- By Wallace J.A Inside Grenada connection Tuesday February 06,2007 The Republic Bank, formerly known as NCB, has added three new recipients to its Power to Make a Difference programme and is expected to spend some EC $687,000 this year to realize its goals. The bank has worked in partnership with the Government of Grenada to provide EC$250,000 to the Cadrona Home for the Aged, located at LaFillette in the parish of St. Andrew. It is expected that the funds will be used to construct a wing at the existing facility to accommodate six rooms, a doctor’s office and a sick bay. Bishop’ College, a secondary school located on the sister isle of Carriacou, is another recipient of Republic Bank’s generosity. The school will receive EC$121,000 from the bank to be used for the construction of a new technical classroom. The third recipient of Republic Bank’s Power to Make a Difference programme is the Dorothy Hopkin Center for the Disabled located at Tempe in St. George’s. The Centre provides a safe and secure residence for the disabled of Grenada and also provides basic education and life skills training to residents. EC$316,000 will be made available to the institution to build a doctor’s office and recreation room as well as to enable the center to take in and care for an additional sixteen children.
