GRENADA OPPOSITION CALLS FOR CONSISTENCY IN INVESTIGATI...
In the wake of news that Inspector Brian Hurst, Leader of the Royal Grenada Police Force Band, has been reassigned to a new position within the force as investigations continue into the embarrassing Chinese national anthem mix up, Opposition Leader Tillman Thomas has called for consistency in dealing with government officials under investigation. While not opposing the investigation, Thomas said the laws of the land must be upheld. “As a nation we should be consistent in what we are doing, if the principle is when someone is under investigation that person should demit office then that should be apply to all of us," said Thomas. Thomas said that, with the "briefcase inquiry", the Prime Minister did not step down and today he saw no reason for Hurst to step down. He added that, while he is not taking sides, the rule of law must prevail at all times. Reprinted from caribbeannetnews.com In a release issued on Tuesday by the Grenada police, it was stated that a full investigation has been ordered by Commissioner of Police Winston James into the circumstances that led to the police force band rendering the incorrect anthem, but no time frame has been given for the investigation, since the intention is to ensure that all areas are covered. The investigation will be spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner Raymond Charles. Sergeant John Amede will act as Band Master during the period. Opposition Member of Parliament, Peter David, told reporters at a press conference that Saturday’s mix up was a true representation of a lack of ministerial responsibility.
