The NNP has been in office since 1995 - for three consecutive terms. In the last general election, the NNP won 8 of the 15 seats that were contested. We can all agree that an Opposition Party is primarily interested in showing-up the incumbent (ruling) Party’s shortcomings. Responsible engagement would encourage the Opposition to be constructive in such undertakings. NDC’S concentrated mud-slinging and character assassination is doing Grenada a disservice. The fact of the matter is they have created a sub-culture of disrespect and intolerance for the political process which has far-reaching implications that threatens our invaluable peace and security. The irony of this all is that the very bed that they are wetting today is the same bed they may some day have to sleep in. After viewing the Hon. Tillman Thomas’ so-called address to the nation the following becomes very apparent: He is a poor reader and public speaker. He is a nervous wreck and not speaking with conviction. He had the posture and disposition of a person that is duped and programmed by remote control. He has little command of their information. And what comes across most profoundly is the fact that Mr. Tillman Thomas does not have the characteristics of a Prime Minister. There is no reason to address the claims made by Hon. Tillman Thomas because there are baseless, politically inflated, overplayed nonsense. We know by Hon. Tillman Thomas’ body language and puppet-like demeanour while presenting the national address that he is obviously not comfortable with the setting or the information he was delivering. What is the nature of man, much more an aspiring leader who will forsake his much advocated integrity and legal profession to be a stooge for such misdirected misfits? It is no secret that NDC’S concentrated strategy is to paint this administration with a corrupt brush…applying the same strategy used to take down the Eric Gairy led administration. They would embarrass and disgrace Grenada to get at the NNP. They intend to beat their propaganda drum until the skin on the drum snaps. The people of this blessed land know that the NDC camp is loaded with egotistical, talkative, forced-ripe politicians who are playing on the ignorance of the vulnerable segment of our society. NDC continue to underestimate the Grenadian people. We are a much improved and sophisticated people this time around. We clearly see through their evil and destructive ways. Most of all, they continue to associate their movement with that of the revolution. People know that the only connection NDC has with the revolution is that the just-come elements in their camp are the very persons who destroyed the revolution. Their checkered history of fighting each other as well as anyone else who stands in the way of their Power quest goes back to the gory days of the revolution. NDC must give Grenadians more credit because their propaganda scheme is outdated, outlandish, and obnoxiously overplayed.
