REGION SEEKING LOCATION FOR NEW CRICKET ACADEMY
The home for the new regional cricket academy will be on top of the agenda when the West Indies Cricket Board directors meet at Turtle Beach Resort on Monday. The Board is expected to receive bids from three bodies which are hoping to host the new-look academy. The 3ws oval at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus in Barbados, the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad and the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua are in the running. The 3ws Oval bid has come from the university and not the Barbados Cricket Association. All three bids have been assessed and the Board's Academy Committee, headed by Jamaican O.K. Melhado, will deliver its report to the members. The last academy was located at St. George's University in Grenada but that was closed after the 2004 term due to a lack of funding.
