BRITISH AIRWAYS TIGHTENS TRAVEL FROM CARIBBEAN
BRITISH Airways will, as of February 21, be requiring passengers travelling between Great Britain and six Caribbean countries, including Jamaica, to complete and submit advanced passenger information system (APIS) forms prior to travel. Individual passengers from countries including Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia, Grenada, Tobago and Jamaica will be required to submit the following passport information prior to travel, using the "Manage My Booking" application in the British Airways main website at www.ba.com: . Passport number. . Country which issued passport. . Passport expiry date. . Given names as they appear on the passport . Last name. . Gender. . Date of birth, and . Nationality. In the meantime, British Airways has encouraged travels agents to obtain all such required information at the time of booking or ensure that their customers comply with the new requirement prior to departure. The airline said that the information should be provided before going to the airport in order to reduce airport congestion and the amount of time needed to spend checking-in. British Airways said passengers who refuse to supply advanced passenger information may not be allowed entry to Great Britain and therefore would not be accepted for travel by British Airways. APIS for infants can only be provided at the airport, the airline said yesterday. Reprinted from jamaicaobserver.com
