GRENADA (Monday Feb. 26): The Ministry of Health and the Environment, in an attempt to enhance the aesthetics of Grenada’s physical environment, is expected to begin removing derelict vehicles from ‘priority areas’ throughout the island from today.
Derelict vehicles, littering the roadsides of the country, have robbed the island of some it’s natural beauty. In addition, they have created health and safety concerns for both locals and visitors to our shores.
The initial stage of the campaign will focus on removing these ‘eye-sores’ from priority areas close to the National Stadium (River Road, Cherry Hill, and Darbeau) and other strategic locations throughout the country.
It is believed that there might be as many as 600 derelict vehicles littering the nation’s roadsides. Removing these vehicles will not only add to the beauty of the areas where they are presently located, but will also lead to the creation of a healthier, safer environment for everyone.
