CAYEGORY:ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE ---------------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA Tuesday February 27,2007 by Wallace J.A GRENADA: The Government of Grenada last week signed a loan agreement for two million, five hundred thousand Kuwaiti Dinars (approximately 22.5 million EC Dollars) with the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development. Finance Minister, Hon. Anthony Boatswain signed the loan agreement on behalf of the Grenadian Government and Mr. Hesham Ibrahim Al-Waqayan, Deputy Director-General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, signed the Loan Agreement on behalf of the Fund. The fund is expected to be used to assist in financing the Agricultural Feeder Roads Project. Grenada’s Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Gregory Bowen, said that Government will try to improve conditions for farmers who have played a very significant role in the development of the society. The purpose of the project is to enhance the social and economic development of Grenada, reduce vehicle operating cost and facilitate transport of agricultural produce and passengers in all Parishes of the Island through the rehabilitation of agricultural feeder roads that are safe to use in all weather conditions. The Project involves civil engineering works for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of about 50 kilometers of the agricultural feeder roads and is expected to be completed by end 2009.
