GRENADIAN GOVERNMENT REVIEWS SECURITY PLANS FOR DIPLOMA...
Government officials in Grenada on Tuesday met with local security personnel to review security plans for diplomats in the wake of two recent separate attacks on members of the diplomatic corps. A review of security arrangements for members of the diplomatic community as well as a report on security arrangements for Grenada's leg of the Cricket World Cup 2007 were at the top of the agenda. The meeting was attended by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Gregory Bowen and Police Commissioner Winston James. According to the statement released after the talks, Mr. Bowen expressed over the two recent incidents involving members of the diplomatic community and asked them to ensure that all aspects of their security plan are implemented. Last week 62-year-old Issac Saavedra Valdes, husband of Cuban Ambassador, Maria Delgado Valdes, was hospitalised after being attacked by unknown assailants. The incident followed closely on the heels of an attack on Vittoria Bertoletti-Coutain, Honorary Council of Italy in Grenada. Reprinted from radioja.com
