Can a single person make eleven predictions two thousand years into the future and be correct every time?
Impossible! You may say. In fact the laws of probability calculate that the chance for eleven predictions to come through 2000 years in the future is 1 in 8 x 1063. This figure borders on impossibility but the Bible has done so, not just with eleven prophecies but with literally hundreds of prophecies.
Having had a short break, this article will address some of the biblical prophecies which have already come through. At the end of these presentations it is my hope that the reliability of the Bible would be acknowledged.
In the book of 2 Peter 1: 20 – 21, a comment is made on the nature of prophecies:
Knowing this first that no prophecy is of any private
interpretation. For the prophecy came not by the will
of men but by the moving of the Holy Spirit.
It is important to note that mere belief and acknowledgement of God’s existence cannot save a person. As you read, be encouraged to admit your sinfulness, repent and receive Christ by faith, as the only hope of salvation.
In Ezekiel 38:8 and Isaiah 66:8 the Bible predicts that
1. The Jewish people would be scattered worldwide yet they would become a nation again after a long time.
After what appeared to be impossible odds, this prophecy was fulfilled as predicted and actually took place on May 14, 1948 after some 2500 years.
One wonders if Nostradamus could have been so precise.
The Bible goes on to predict that
2. The nation Israel shall be brought forth in one day, at once.
Interestingly, on November 29, 1947 the general assembly of the United Nations approved a resolution calling for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine. On the morning of May 14 1948, the Peoples Council convened a meeting to decide on a name for the state and to finalize the declaration. At 4:00 pm that day the proclamation ceremony began at the Tel Aviv museum and the nation of Israel was born.
So far that’s 2 out of 2. As we scrutinize these predictions let me encourage you to revisit this website for a continuation of how the Bible beats all odds.
May the blessing of Jehovah be with you and remember, today if you hear his voice harden not your heart. Shalom!
