CATEGORY:POLITICS --------------------- INSIDE GRENADA Saturday March 17,2007 by Wallace J.A GRENADA: The ruling New National Party (NNP) will hold its 21st Annual Convention tomorrow (Sunday March 18, 2007) at the Grenada Trade Center in the parish of St.George. The theme selected for this year’s convention is “Reflecting with pride – advancing with vision.” The morning session begins at 8:30 and ends at 12:00 noon. That part of the convention is expected to be private and will be closed to the public. The Public/ Open Session is expected to commence around 1:00pm and will end around 4:00pm. The political leader of the party, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, will deliver the feature address while the Guest Speaker for the event will be the former Prime Minister of St.Vincent, Sir James Mitchell. Past NNP Conventions have attracted large crowds and many political observers on the island will doubtlessly be looking at the turnout at tomorrow’s convention which will give them an indication as to the present strength of the NNP. The party has had to contend with many allegations over the past few years and opposition forces on the island will definitely take a keen interest in tomorrow’s proceedings. Many Grenadian nationals have expressed the belief that general elections might be just around the corner.
