Employees of the Grenada Ports Authority returned to work Friday afternoon after walking off the job earlier in the day to protest a long-standing wages dispute.
Officials of the Technical & Allied Workers Union said the over 40 workers took the industrial action pending the outcome of a meeting between union officials, Port Chairman Dr. Spencer Thomas and Minister of Labour Claris Charles.
During the morning the workers walked off the job to attend a union meeting as a means of registering the union's dissatisfaction with the progress of the wage negotiations.
The union claims that its members, who are doing the same jobs as other workers employed by Ports Authority, are being paid much lower than their colleagues.
