ST. LUCIA EXPERIENCE EFFECTS OF EARTHQUAKE  
CATEGORY:DISASTER -------------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA Thursday, March 29,2007 by Rawle Titus The National Disaster Management Agency, (Nadma) would like to inform the nation of the occurrence of an earthquake about 80 KM South East of St. Lucia on Thursday March 29th at 1.25 am Eastern Caribbean time. Information received by NaDMA from the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Unit, puts the preliminary location for the event at 13.60N, 60.20W. The event was reported as felt widely in St. Lucia . There have been no reports of damage or injuries thus far. NaDMA, in an effort to adequately inform the population on forms of preparation in the event of an earthquake and has been running a series of information bulletins in the weekly Grenada Advocate for the past three months. The bulletins have been focusing on, among other things, building methods and ways of securing movable objects indoors to mitigate the effects of an earthquake.
