MISS WORLD GRENADA TO BE CROWNED TODAY

CATEGORY:COMPETITION ------------------------ INSIDE GRENADA Saturday March 31,2007 by Wallace J.A GRENADA: Eighteen beautiful young ladies will be vying for the Miss Grenada World title at the GBSS Auditorium this evening (March 31, 2007). The show is expected to commence at 7:00pm. The Master of Ceremonies for this grand affair is Mr. Eversley Olivacce, a former Windward Islands Broadcasting Service (WIBS) star announcer and a recently retired employee of NBC in New York. Tickets for the Miss Grenada World Pageant have been on sale at major outlets throughout the country. The cost per ticket is EC $125.00. All persons attending the pageant this evening are expected to be formally attired. The eighteen beauties have all met the Miss Grenada World rules of eligibility which states that every contestant * Shall be 17-24 years of age on the 31st December of the year of the contest. * Shall be a Grenadian citizen. * Must be a natural born female. * Who has never been married & never given birth. * Shall be of good character and possess charm, poise, personality and have beauty of face and figure. The lucky young lady who is crowned Miss Grenada will have the honour or representing the Spice Island in the Miss World contest which will be staged in China later on this year. The young contestants vying for the coveted title of Miss World Grenada are: Alyssa Berzynski (19 yrs.) Anika Philip (19) Charina Jones (19) Connie Farrier (21) Crystal Mc Lawrence (23) Donic Mc Ewen (23) Leonie Patrick (24) Luan Harford (19) Michelle Minors (24) Nasheba Paul (20) Nisha Frank (17) Nicoleon Louison (24) Renee Moses (17) Shanique Strachan (21) Sharnell Martin (20) Tonia Collins (19) Vivian Burkhardt (21) Yola Jolema Noel (22) Earlier on this month (March 24, 2007), the contestants were engaged in a Fundraising Fashion show which was held under the distinguished patronage of Lady Gloria Williams. The function was held at Jenney’s Place in Grand Anse and the proceeds from the show went to the Grenada, Carriacou & Petit Martinique Foundation for Needy Students Inc. Jennifer Hosten, who won the Miss World title in 1970, is the major driving force behind the Miss Grenada World pageant. There has been a tremendous buildup to this evening’s pageant and the turnout is expected to be very good. The young beauty contestants have all received tremendous national exposure and are already seen my many as local celebrities. Grenadian Connection (GC) is encouraging members of the public to come out and be a part of this very grand affair.

I agree with the previous writer to say I hope the Best person was chosen to represent us.. We also know that the runner up is just as important as she has to fit in if and when the Queen is unable to carry out her duties,,,
