CATEGORY:CELEBRATION ------------------------ INSIDE GRENADA Monday April 16,2007 by Wallace J.A ST.ANDREW’S, Grenada: The town of Grenville came alive yesterday (Sunday April 15, 2007) as residents from within the parish, as well as from other parishes, came together to celebrate St.Andrew’s Day. The celebration was spearheaded by the St.Andrew’s Development Organization (SADO) and forms part of the Ministry of Culture’s plan to bring visitors to the different parishes on days when Super Eight matches are not played here in Grenada. Many visitors as well as locals – averaging 3000 persons – were in Grenville city yesterday. Mr. Arthur Foster, the chairman of SADO, welcomed everyone to the function. It started off with an art and craft display and was followed by the cultural extravaganza which commenced from around 6 o’clock and ended around 11 pm. There were brilliant performances from the Rainbow City All-stars steel orchestra, the Birchgrove Young Drummers, the La Poterie Tambo Bamboo, Tumda and the La Poterie Cultural group. Well known Grenadian vocalists like Black Wizard, Scholar, Inspector, Mr.X, Randy Isaac, Boogie B, Papa Jerry, Rooster, and Psycho Bob among others were on hand and they entertained the crowd with some of their hottest renditions. St.David’s already had their parish celebrations and on Thursday, the historic parish of St.Patrick’s will be holding theirs.
