US CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION VISITS GRENADA
A five member congressional delegation from the United States has visited Grenada with the aim of strengthening relations between the two countries. While in Grenada, the visitors held discussions with Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell, Leader of the Opposition Tillman Thomas and representatives from the business sector. The congressional team also visited number of projects funded by USAID following the passage of hurricane Ivan. At a media briefing, Congressman Eliot Engel said his team is listening to what the government and people need and trying to come up with ways they can be of assistance. Engle also spoke of the US Immigration laws. “I have sponsored an immigration bill, particularly pertaining to the English-speaking Caribbean nations, and what my bill would do would be to make family re-unification a major priority for us when we look at immigration,” said Engle. Grenada has received approximately US$47 million dollars from USAID. Reprinted from Caribbean Net News caribbeannetnews.com
