MITCHELL DOES NOT EXPECT TOURISM FALL OUT FROM CWC
Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, says he does not expect the tourism sector there to experience any massive fall-out from the lower than anticipated visitor arrivals which have plagued the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Dr. Mitchell told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that with the industry almost wiped out due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Ivan in September, 2004 and Hurricane Emily one year later, many hotels were still in the recovery process and would actually benefit from the numbers which arrived for the tournament. Cricket World Cup had been expected to provide a boom for tourism in the region but projected arrivals have fallen way below the high numbers initially touted by officials. This has been largely influenced by the early exit from the tournament of Pakistan and India, both of which were expected to attract a huge following from the Asian sub-continent. Mitchell said while there had not been mass arrivals and packed stadiums for Grenada’s leg of the Cricket World Cup, government was still pleased. Reprinted from radioja.com

MITCHELL DOES NOT EXPECT TOURISM FALL OUT FROM CWC
dear sir it is quite easy for the pm to say that he is dissapointed with the turn out of visitors togrenada for the world cup,but what did he expect,it is now only fair that his government take fully the blame for the very low turn out and look at the many factors thathad an impact, price of ticket especially for the lower paid citizens of our great island of grenada. this event was held in grenada forcricket lovers of grenadians and visitorsand not hte other way round and as i said before the government is fully to blame.so next time there is such an event in grenada let us think grenada for granada and welcome our visitors as we always do
