GRENADIAN STUDENTS CONTINUE TO EXCEL AT MIDWESTERN STAT...  
CATEGORY:EDUCATION -------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA FRIDAY May 18,2007 by Kirk Seetahal ST.GEORHE’S: Grenadian students earned high honors at Midwestern State University’s May commencement ceremonies. Tim Elias of Gouyave, a former PBC teacher, earned the President’s Medal of Excellence as well as Summa Cum Laude Honors as the top graduate in the College of Business. He completed his degree with a perfect 4.0 GPA becoming the fourth consecutive Grenadian to earn this award. He completed a bachelor of science in manufacturing engineering. Vicki Alexander and Terrian Augustus Pierre both completed MBA degrees; both also hold bachelor’s degrees in accounting. Leisha Delves and Celia Griffith also earned high honors. Leisha was accorded magna cum laude honors and a bachelor of science in respiratory care, while Celia earned her high honors for a bachelor of business administration in accounting. Three Grenadian students earned cum laude honors. Mariefand Bernard and Marlyn Panchoo received their honors for a bachelor of science in biology; Nicole Phillip for a bachelor of arts in international studies. Ten other Grenadians were among the 34 from the Caribbean and over 900 in the university who graduated at the ceremony. The other Grenadian graduates are: Binta Thomas, bachelor of science in biology; Candice Alexander, bachelor of arts in international studies and Spanish; Carrie St. Louis, bachelor of science in mathematics; Dwain John, bachelor of science in computer science; Lois Marshall, bachelor of arts in English; Natarlie Francis, bachelor of business administration in marketing; Rondell Bullen, bachelor of business administration in management; Sekou Lebarrie, bachelor of business administration in accounting and MIS, and Trevor Stephen, bachelor of business administration in accounting. “Caribbean students continue to distinguish themselves and are a significant part of the university’s recent recognition as the Top Value institution in the country,” Said Dr. Jesse Rogers, President. “We see the Caribbean program as a permanent part of the university’s infrastructure.” Twenty-five new students from Grenada have been accepted to Midwestern State University this August, accounting for more than 800 recruits from the Caribbean in the history of the fourteen year old program.
